We cover sports with sharp writing, strong opinions, real analysis, humor, culture, and the kind of voice people actually want to read.
We are looking for a Sports Writer who can bring stories to life, move fast with breaking news, develop original angles, and help define the tone of a growing sports publication.
About the Role
As a Sports Writer at Bois Club News, you will write engaging, accurate, and timely sports coverage across news, analysis, features, rankings, opinion pieces, game reactions, player stories, and trend-driven content. You should be comfortable covering the big moments, finding the weird details, and turning sports conversations into articles people want to share.
This role is fully remote, with flexible hours and the freedom to work in the way that helps you produce your best work.
What You’ll Do
- Write compelling sports articles, features, opinion pieces, rankings, previews, recaps, and analysis.
- Cover breaking news quickly while maintaining accuracy, clarity, and strong editorial judgment.
- Develop original story ideas around teams, athletes, leagues, fan culture, trades, controversies, viral moments, and emerging sports narratives.
- Turn stats, quotes, trends, and game moments into readable, engaging stories.
- Collaborate with editors, content leads, and other writers to shape coverage strategy.
- Pitch fresh angles that fit the Bois Club News voice and audience.
- Stay plugged into sports news, social media, fan conversations, league updates, and cultural trends.
- Help grow the Bois Club News brand through distinctive, high-quality writing.
What We’re Looking For
- A strong writer with a clear voice, sharp instincts, and a deep understanding of sports.
- Someone who can write fast without sounding generic.
- Strong knowledge of one or more major sports, including basketball, football, baseball, soccer, combat sports, college sports, or emerging sports scenes.
- Ability to explain games, players, storylines, and statistics in a way that feels accessible and entertaining.
- Excellent research, fact-checking, and headline instincts.
- Comfort writing both timely news pieces and longer-form features.
- A strong sense of what fans are talking about online and why it matters.
- Ability to work independently in a fully remote environment.
Nice to Have
- Experience writing for a sports publication, blog, newsletter, podcast, YouTube channel, or social-first media brand.
- Experience with SEO, WordPress, CMS platforms, analytics tools, or newsletter platforms.
- A strong social media presence or understanding of how sports content performs on TikTok, X, Instagram, YouTube, Reddit, and Threads.
- Experience covering basketball, football, or internet-driven sports culture.
