Wuthering Waves launches on Xbox and Game Pass today with cross-progression from every other platform

Kuro Games' free-to-play action RPG reaches Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Cloud alongside the Version 3.5 update, more than two years after it hit PC and mobile.

Kuro Games put Wuthering Waves on Xbox today, closing out a rollout that started on PC and phones back in 2024. The free-to-play action RPG is live on Xbox Series X and Series S, Xbox on PC, and Xbox Cloud Gaming, and it launched as an Xbox Play Anywhere title, so a single download covers the console and PC versions on the same account.

The port did not show up as a catch-up build. It arrived alongside Version 3.5, the same content update going live on every other platform, so Xbox players start on the current version instead of an older one.

What carries over

Here is the part worth caring about if you already play: cross-progression and crossplay work across PC, mobile, PS5, and Xbox on one account. Characters, Echoes, story progress, and Union Level all move with you. If you have been playing on your phone or on PlayStation, you sign in and pick up where you left off, and you can group up with friends no matter what they are playing on.

That is the feature that actually matters when a live-service game lands on a new platform, and Kuro shipped it on day one instead of promising it for a later patch.

The Game Pass bonus, specifically

Xbox Game Pass members get a launch reward, and it is worth being precise about what it is and what it is not. Members can claim a one-time in-game Sigil called "Paths and Possibilities" through in-game mail once they reach Union Level 2, plus a gift pack that repeats with each new version for as long as the subscription stays active.

It is a small sweetener of cosmetics and materials, not a shortcut that gates gameplay behind Game Pass or hands subscribers a competitive edge. If you do not have Game Pass, you are not locked out of anything in the game itself. Good to know before anyone talks themselves into a subscription over it.

Version 3.5

The update Xbox is launching into, "Blade of Past Resounds, Lingering Dream Hymns," adds new playable characters (an SP version of Yangyang, plus Xuanling and Suisui) and opens up the Mengzhou area on the map. The standard gacha caveat applies: this is a snapshot of a game that changes every few weeks, so the roster and banners live today will look different by the next version.

The long road to Xbox

Wuthering Waves has taken its time reaching every screen. The timeline:

PlatformRelease
PC, iOS, AndroidMay 23, 2024 (May 22 in the US)
PlayStation 5January 2, 2025 (with Version 2.0)
macOSMarch 27, 2025
SteamApril 29, 2025
Xbox Series X/S, PC, CloudJuly 10, 2026

Xbox coming last is the usual pattern for this style of game, and the wait at least means the build that showed up is the full, current one. For Xbox players who watched everyone else theorycraft for two years, that counts for something.
